Madurai , Sept. 19

THE trade and industry circles here have hailed the new industry policy 2003, announced by the Government of Tamil Nadu, as well-conceived and pragmatic and said that it would help kick-start the much needed reform process and economic growth in the State.

The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a statement, has said that the emphasis given for enhancing generation of power, promotion of public-private partnership for the development of industrial infrastructure, encouragement to manufacturing industry, upgradation of industrial competitiveness, fiscal and labour reforms coupled with deregulation of trade and industry would go a long way in achieving the targeted growth rate of eight per cent for the State.

The specific focus for upgradation of airports, seaports, etc would help stimulate growth.
