Returns filing date extended to Oct 3

THE Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for filing of income tax returns by individuals, Hindu Undivided Families (HUF) and other non-corporate assessees whose accounts need not be audited under the Income Tax Act, 1961, or under any law for the time being in force.

As against the earlier specified due date of September 30, 2003, the CBDT has now announced that income tax returns can be filed by such assessees till October 3.
