Ashok Leyland vehicle sales up 72% in Oct

POWERED by a surge in sales of medium duty vehicles (above 7.5 tonnes), Ashok Leyland reported a 71.6 per cent increase in vehicle sales in October 2003 over the same month last year.

In October 2003, the company sold 3,997 vehicles, including 327 units exported, against 2,329 in October 2002. Total medium duty vehicle domestic sales were 3,648 units last month compared to 2,052 a year earlier. Domestic medium duty goods vehicle sales accounted for 2,698 units against 1,424 vehicles in October 2002, an increase of 89.5 per cent. Passenger domestic sales were up by 51.3 per cent and exports by 26.7 per cent.

A company press release said that total cumulative sales from April to October 2003 were up 34.1 per cent to 24,346 vehicles.
