Micro and macro environment

Of late, both the Central and State Governments have become `environment-conscious' and there are laws and guidelines to protect the environment.

But what is worrisome is the degradation of the micro-environment.

Unhygienic conditions prevail in almost all areas of any city. Clean drinking water is not available to the majority of population. And public places, such as bus stands and railway stations, are filthy, to say the least.

The condition of the roads is horrible, leading to ever-increasing dust and exhaust pollution. To improve the macro-environment, efforts should begin at the micro level.
