Dabur set to withdraw Foliripe

P.T. Jyothi Datta

New Delhi , Dec. 8

WITH its Letrozole coming under the scanner, Dabur is set to withdraw one of its brands of Letrozole - Foliripe - industry sources told Business Line.

Dabur sells Letrozole under the Trozet and Foliripe brand names. Trozet is promoted as a breast cancer drug while Foliripe is marketed as a fertility enhancer, the sources said.

Further, they added, Trozet will continue to be promoted for applications as approved by the Drug Controller-General of India (DCGI).

"It will be easy to ensure that Trozet is marketed only for the approved indications, as it would be sold only to oncologists. Foliripe is being discontinued to remove confusion in the market."

Foliripe is marketed through gynaecologists as a fertility enhancer, the sources added.

When contacted, Dabur officials said that they would abide by the directives issued by the DCGI.

Meanwhile, Sun and Dabur are said to have received at least three communications from the Government on the issue. "An enquiry, a warning and finally an order that was received only last week," the sources said.
