Terrorism Taliban militants free Indian workers Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Dec. 24 PUTTING an end to the 18-day ordeal, suspected Taliban militants on Wednesday freed in Afghanistan the two Indian construction workers hailing from Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh. According to reports reaching here, the two workers, Mr P. Murali and Mr G. Varadaiah, were received by the Ghazni Governor from the kidnappers at noon and handed them over to the Interior Minister in Kabul. Later, they were received by the Indian Ambassador, Mr Vivek Katju. The two Indians, working with the city-based construction company B Seenaiah & Company (Projects), were kidnapped by the militants on December 6 near Sherjeh village near Qalat town. The company is a sub-contractor for a US company working on the 85-km Kabul-Khandhar highway project. The news about the release came as a big relief for the staffers and the Managing Director of B Seenaiah & Company."We are very happy and relieved," said the Managing Director, Mr B. Seenaiah. Talking to the workers after hearing the news, he said they were confident that the two would be released.
