Anti-dumping Definitive dumping duty proposed on EPDM imports Our Bureau
New Delhi , Dec. 25 THE Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has recommended continuation of the definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of EPM (ethylene propylene rubber) and EPDM (ethylene propylene diene rubber) from South Korea, after a review of the earlier recommendations. In its recommendation, notified on December 22, the authority said the present review probe has been initiated at the request of the exporter from the subject country. The authority found that in spite of the anti-dumping duty being in force, the subject goods have been exported to India from South Korea at dumped prices. Accordingly, the authority recommends imposition of definitive anti-dumping duties on all imports of EPDM originating in or exported from Korea. The anti-dumping duty should be the difference between $2,418.50 and the landed price of imports per tonne. The petition for seeking imposition of anti-dumping duty was filed by Herdillia Unimers Ltd (HUL), Mumbai, the sole domestic producer and the authority had recommended levy of definitive anti-dumping duty in August 2000 on EPM and EPDM from Korea. However, one of the user industries, Rishiroop Holding Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, on behalf of Kumho Polychem Co Ltd, Korea, sought for initiation of review of the anti-dumping duty on EPDM.
