KOCHI: A total number of 84 companies including eight big size companies were registered in Kerala during December 2003. Out of this, four are public limited companies with total authorised capital of Rs 115 lakh and 80 private companies limited by shares with total authorised capital of Rs 819.5 lakh.

As many as 41 cases were filed during the month for violation of various provisions of the Companies Act and an amount of Rs 54,700 was imposed as fine by the court against companies and directors.

Five companies changed their names and one company converted from public to private and vice versa during the month.
