Farm sector

The CII's call to tax the farm sector is a very short-sighted remedy.

There is a lot of rationalisation and decentralisation required in the fiscal discipline among the State and Panchayat Raj tiers. This should start with defining the priority areas of focus between these two tiers and only after that can the taxation of agriculture be meaningfully entrusted to the Panchayati Raj tier.
