MANIPAL Tumkur Hospital (MTH), earlier known as H&W Heart Hospital, will soon be opening the first dialysis centre in Tumkur. The centre will cater to patients in Tumkur and surrounding districts such as Chitradurga, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Mandya and Kolar.
Dialysis is a process where blood is purified with an artificial kidney called the dialysis machine and each dialysis takes at least 4 hours. The patient has to undergo dialysis 2 to 3 times in a week and has to continue until he/she undergoes a Kidney transplant.
Currently, patients have to travel to cities like Mangalore, Mysore and Bangalore for dialysis treatment. Such medical visits result in a lot of inconvenience to them . It also involves extra expenditure due to the long distances travelled and for costs incurred on attendants accompanying the patient. The treatment being made available at the dialysis centre of Manipal Tumkur Hospital will be at par with that provided in the larger cities.
Manipal Tumkur Hospital is the first to handle 24-hour cardiac emergencies in Tumkur district. It also has a fully automatic hormone analyser. Manipal Healthcare, which manages the Manipal Tumkur Hospital, is a pioneer in offering hospital management and quality healthcare services. It presently manages 8 hospitals in south India, among others at Manipal, Mangalore, Udupi and Goa, including the one at Tumkur.
