Trade potential

This is with reference to the editorial "Trading with Pakistan" (Business Line, March 4).

As rightly pointed out in the editorial, the latent trade potential between India and Pakistan can be gauged from the extent of informal trade that thrives between the two countries which consists of trade through other countries such as Dubai, Afghanistan and CIS countries as well as cross-border trade. In this regard, the illegal trade channels operating across Indo-Pak border may also be taken into account.
