Cotton Cotton Corpn sets higher sales target Our Bureau
New Delhi , March 30 COTTON Corporation of India (CCI) has set a higher sales target of Rs 1,076.30 crore for the next fiscal, of which the domestic sales would account for Rs 984.85 crore with the rest coming from exports. This was indicated by CCI in its memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the Ministry of Textiles. During the next fiscal, it has also set a target to purchase 10 lakh bales of cotton and sell 8.5 lakh bales in the domestic market and one lakh bales abroad. The MoU was signed recently by Mr S.B. Mohapatra, Textiles Secretary, and Mr Vishwa Nath, Chairman & Managing Director, CCI, an official release said. He urged the corporation to launch a pilot project in some of the cotton-growing States for greater involvement of the farmers. This could be done through growers' associations and through providing good quality seeds, pesticides and by making extension support available to them. CCI, which has been designed as the implementing agency for the Technology Mission on Cotton, has also taken steps to improve the quality of cotton available in the country.
