Hyderabad , April 12

SUVEN Life Sciences Ltd (SLS), the Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company, has set up a scientific advisory board (SAB) for drug discovery research with three noted specialists - Dr Marlene L. Cohen, Dr James L. Howard and Dr Warren Stern - in the therapeutic area of Central Nervous System (CNS).

In a press release here, the company said the board would serve as a think tank by providing right inputs, direction and guidance to the Suven's management and to its scientific team for all of its pursuits in the drug discovery research.

At the first SAB meeting held at the US-based Suven Life Sciences LLC, the board adjudged Suven Life Sciences as well positioned and in the right direction in its chosen field of drug discovery research on the basis of work already done and the facilities created. Suven proposes to have these SAB meetings at least thrice a year.

Dr Marlene Cohen worked for the US-based Eli Lilly and Company for more than 27 years and holds the prestigious title Lilly Research Fellow. She has been involved in the discovery and development of many promising compounds in the therapeutic area of CNS.

Dr James Howard with stints at the University of North Carolina and the US-based Burroughs Wellcome Company, is currently a senior partner of Howard Associates LLC. He brings rich experience of behavioural pharmacology and experimental methods to evaluate potential candidates to develop drugs for CNS therapeutic area.

Since 2003 Dr Warren Stern is acting as the Senior Vice-President of Drug Development of DOV Pharmaceutical Inc. Earlier he served as Senior Vice-President of Scientific and Medical Services at PAREXEL International Corporation.
