BOW unveils online fleet-tracking system
New Delhi , April 29
BOW Network Pvt Ltd, a Bangalore-based enterprise solutions provider to the transport industry, has announced the launch of BOW Trakease, a joint venture between BOW and Brussels-based Fortese Software Pvt Ltd.
BOW Trakease is an online, real-time fleet management system that enables corporates, fleet managers, delivery departments, transport operators, automotive companies, airports and harbours to track their vehicles any time.
The BOW Trakease requires an in-vehicle BOW Trakease GPS unit with GPRS/GPS (mobile sim card), a user identification, password and a personal computer with internet connection. The system can store up to 32 K of information on vehicles giving location, time, direction, acceleration or deceleration, tyre pressure, door position and the duration at any location.
"The vehicles can be tracked from anywhere whoever has an Internet access. The system also helps drivers to communicate with owners by using a panic button installed in the unit," Mr P.S. Selvaraj, Managing Director, BOW Network Pvt Ltd, said at a press conference here on Thursday.
Users of BOW Trakease can follow the vehicle anytime, anywhere, check if the driver is speeding or driving recklessly and monitor the vehicle if it is involved in an accident, he said.
BOW is also offering a vehicle tracking system through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). Transport owners registered with the company can avail of the service by using a `BOW Card' while those who are not registered can use the `Trip Card' available at area franchisees set up in all district and business headquarters as well as designated retail outlets such as petrol pumps, STD booths and dabhas on the National and state highways.
Mr Selvaraj said that this is a "driver-friendly" system, which carries an incentive scheme to increase the usage of BOW Cards and Trip Cards by the drivers. The incentive scheme involves a lottery system wherein for every call made, a receipt in the form of a lottery ticket is given to the driver. And, every quarter, a lottery draw of Rs 50,000 is conducted from which five drivers are selected and awarded Rs 10,000 each.
BOW also provides health care facility to the drivers and cleaners during journey, assistance in case of breakdowns and other emergencies.
The BOW Cards and Trip Cards can be used with a common number provided by BOW. The drivers can dial these common numbers from any where at anytime to leave the vehicle status information. When a driver dials these numbers, it asks for the six-digit bow card number. On entering this number, it will ask for the three-digit message code, which is being given to the drivers while obtaining the card. The message is then automatically uploaded to the Web site of BOW.
This one-time information given by the driver will be made available to the vehicle owners, consignors, consignees, corporate houses, transport companies, agents and individuals. The whole process takes only 10-15 seconds to complete, he explained.
