Health `Changes in lifestyle necessary to control health disorders' Our Bureau
Mangalore , April 30 KASTURBA Medical College (KMC) Hospital at Attavar in Mangalore has come out with a concept clinic, "Lifestyle Modification Clinic", to control health disorders related to poor lifestyle. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, the Chief Operating Officer of KMC Hospitals, Mangalore, Dr D.P. Saraswat, said that most of the health disorders such as heart attack, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity are related to a person's lifestyle. Stating that poor lifestyle is one of the reasons for health disorders, he said that the aim of starting the clinic is to control such disorders. Changes in lifestyle should be done objectively and voluntarily. He said that modification in lifestyle is beneficial in prevention and treatment of health disorders. Dr Saraswat said that diagnostic and therapeutic facilities of KMC Hospital are available for Lifestyle Modification Clinic. The Registrar of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dr Gurumadhva Rao, will inaugurate the clinic at Attavar on May 2, he said. Referring to another concept clinic of KMC Hospitals, an "All-Women Clinic" at Bejai in Mangalore, Dr Saraswat said that it would celebrate May Day in a different way. The All-Women Clinic will conduct a workshop on "Stress management" for working women. Dr M. Chakrapani, Head of the Department of Medicine, KMC Hospital, and Dr Raghavendra Bhat, Convenor of Lifestyle Modification Clinic, were present.
