Tata Steel settles temporary staff issue

Mumbai , May 23

TATA Steel today signed an agreement to settle the long outstanding issue of temporary employees. The agreement was signed by Mr B. Muthuraman, Managing Director, Tata Steel, and Mr RBB Singh, President, Tata Workers Union, in the presence of Ms Nidhi Khare, Labour Commissioner, State of Jharkhand.

Salient features of the settlement include that all temporary employees will be eligible for cash option in lieu of employment with the benefits under cash option ranging from a minimum of Rs 50,000 at 59 yrs of age to a maximum of Rs 3.5 lakh up to 30 years of age.
