Patni to set up Bangalore centre

Our Bureau

Mumbai , June 1

PATNI Computer Systems today announced its plans to set up its first development in Bangalore and said it would increase its presence in the south.

The proposed centre will be located in Electronic City Phase II and will house 1,100 people, said a company news release.

Currently, the company's operations are concentrated in the western and northern regions. It has development centres in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Noida Gandhinagar and Chennai. Its entry into Bangalore will enable it to attract talent from the "Silicon Valley of the country", said the release.

The other reason is that it will bring it closer to some of its large clients such as GE - its single largest $100- million customer. The centre, to be ready by July , will also offer services for clients in Enterprise Applications practices and in the Embedded Technology Solutions space.
