Good demand for Kochi teas

Kochi , June 6

A GOOD general demand resulted in the spurting of prices of almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction.

Of the quantity of 11,60,000 kg on offer in the dust category, CTC market barely steady to irregular. Orthodox easier.

The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 52 and Rs 68, medium CTC realised Rs 43-50 and poorer type were quoted Rs 36-41. Medium BOPD realised Rs 37-39 and Secondaries quoted Rs 33-35.

The leaf sale also witnessed a good general demand and the quantity on offer was 11,60,000 kg. Corresponding fannings barely steady, while CTCs fully firm to dearer. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 55 and Rs 66, medium orthodox realised Rs 45-58. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 48 and Rs 62.
