Bangalore Bio to foster Indo-German tech cooperation

BANGALORE Bio 2004 being held next week will have a strong German presence from some majors from the German biotechnology industry.
A 15-member delegation organised by the federally sponsored International Technology Cooperation Network (ITCN) will be there at the meet slated for July 11-13. The German Ambassador, Mr Heimo E. Richter, is a guest of honour at the inauguration of the event, according to an official release.
Some of the companies in the entourage are MWG Biotech, Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH, FIZ Biotechnologie GmbH, Frankfurt Economic Development GmbH, Gene Bridges GmbH, Institut fuer Geratebau GmbH, AiF Geschaeftsstelle Berlin, Evotec OAI and TU Stephani GmbH.
Mr M.K. Shankaralinge Gowda, Secretary, Karnataka Department of IT, Biotechnology, Science & Technology, said, "We are honoured to host the German delegation in Bangalore. We look forward to enhancing business relationships and fostering technological cooperation between Indian and German companies."
According to Ms Anandi Iyer, Adviser, ITCN, the large German presence shows the strong interest of the German biotech industry to partner with India.
She said, "We hope that the Indo-German Business Forum will see many exciting partnerships being formed."
Some 700 delegates representing 100 companies from 15 countries are expected at the fourth annual Asian event that is promoted by the Karnataka Government and its think-tank, the Vision Group on Biotechnology.
