Alliances & Joint Ventures Industry & Economy - Wool Woolmark, Resil pact for new technology Our Bureau
Bangalore , July 15 WOOLMARK, the quality assurance company for textiles, has entered into an accord with Bangalore-based Resil Chemicals Pvt Ltd to propagate and market Sensory Perception Technology (SPT), a new finishing knowhow for textiles and garments. The technology has been developed by Woolmark and the US-based International Flavours and Fragrances. It is based on trapping various fragrances, essences or products such as insect repellents, cosmetics or medicinal plants into millions of microscopic capsules and welding them to textile fibres during the wet-finish stage. The microcapsules are produced with a protective polymeric coating or melamine shell that holds microscopic droplets of oil, which give the perception of a fragrance or insect repellent when it is broken down during textile usage. Announcing the tie-up with Resil at a press conference here, Mr David Hellens, Global Business Director, The Woolmark Company, said India, a significant producer of textiles and garments, had good potential to use this technologyfor both its domestic and exports markets. Mr M.S. Vijayan, Joint Managing Director, Resil Chemicals, said the technology had been tested by a few companies in the country and he was confident that others also would find it useful, especially for exports. Resil sees potential for the technology at an estimated Rs 100 crore market in the country.
