IT-enabled Services Industry & Economy - Education A yen for correction spells orders for KG Info unit L.N. Revathy
Coimbatore , July 16 WHAT started as a casual acquaintance has, over the years, grown into a business alliance for KG Information Systems Private Ltd (KGISL). The company's BPO division is now extending `English correction services' for a Japanese corporation. Unwilling to divulge the name of the Japanese company, a senior official of KGISL told Business Line that the job did not involve high technical skill, although it offered enormous potential. "We are able to tap the vast pool of educated workforce." The KGISL management team had incidentally met the Japanese business tycoon in the US. "Impressed by our work, this organisation in Japan gave us some assignments. They are with us now. We are keen to strengthen and build the relationship," the official said. Schools in Japan, it is learnt, entrust this work (English essay correction) to companies who, in turn, get it outsourced. "It is not difficult because the standard is not very high requiring some specialists in the English language to do the job. They follow American English, not British English." The source said that the company received over two lakh essays for evaluation every year and about 20 people were engaged in correcting the collection.
