The Hindu Business Line : Floatels India takes over Manacaud Hotel

FLOATELS India Pvt Ltd, which owns the Poovar Island Resort near Thiruvananthapuram, is in an expansion mode. The company has taken over the Manacaud Manor Hotel located on Thiruvananthapuram's arterial Mahatma Gandhi Road and is also in the process of developing its second resort near Kochi.

Renamed the Comfort Inn Grand, the Manacaud Manor will be positioned as a `value-for-money' business hotel and will leverage the property's location in the heart of the city's business district, said Mr M.R. Narayanan, Managing Director, Floatels India Pvt Ltd. The 41-room hotel will offer a range of facilities designed specially for the business traveller, he told Business Line.

In an attempt to attract business travellers visiting the city for only a few hours, the hotel will introduce a separate "day use" package for this segment, he said. Guests opting for this facility will be offered rooms for a specified number of hours, at a separate "day rate" and can even opt for an airport or railway station pick-up as part of the deal, he added.

"People from other parts of Kerala or neighbouring States who visit the city for a few hours can use this service to freshen-up before going about their business," Mr Narayanan declared.

All rooms at the hotel, which is currently being refurbished, will have broadband Internet connections. The hotel will also be Wi-Fi enabled and will offer comprehensive secretarial and other business services to its guests, Mr Narayanan said.

There will be two vegetarian restaurants, including a speciality restaurant. While the hotel has tied-up with the Chennai-based Sangeetha's chain of vegetarian restaurants for its main eatery, a decision on the operation of the speciality restaurant has not yet been taken, he added.

Weekend vacation packages that offer guests at the business hotel an opportunity to stay at the company's Poovar Island Resort, are also being developed, said Mr Narayanan.

Another project on the anvil is a backwaters resort, Pristine Island near Kochi, which will be developed in association with a non-resident Indian business group, he added.
