Entertainment & Leisure Visual treat for literary lovers Our Bureau
Hyderabad , July 21 OFFERING a visual treat for literary lovers in the State, the Doordarshan will telecast a series of programmes based on popular works of literary giants. Beginning August 1, the series titled Muthyala Haaram (The Necklace of Pearls) would comprise 54 programmes, comprising 156 episodes, according to Mr D. Prasada Rao, Director of Doordarshan. In a press release, Mr Rao said works of giants such as late Vishwanatha Satyanarayana, Sripada Subrahmanya Sastri, Chalam, Sri Sri and Buchibabu were selected for the programmes. The programmes, which would last till January 13 next, would be aired daily at 7.30 p.m. on DD-1. "All the programmes have been directed and produced by senior TV and film-makers," the release said. While showcasing the works, considered to be the milestone in Telugu literature, the programmes would reflect cultural, literary and historical aspects of the State. Mr Rao released a brochure on the new series.
