CSE willing to provide critical info to members

Our Bureau

Kolkata , July 23

MEMBERS of the Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) are finally getting a response from the bourse authorities regarding some of their long-pending demands.

On Friday, the CSE management said that it would provide them with critical information in line with the decision taken at the recent EGM.

The exchange authorities said that copies of the draft memorandum and articles of association will now be made available to members for inspection and making copies.

The CSE Secretary, in a notice issued to members, also said that copies will be available with Mr S.K. Kaushik, a member, for their reference.

The complete documents, incidentally, are also part of the CSE Web site.

The EGM saw a number of members express dissatisfaction over the manner in which the CSE management has been functioning lately. (The CSE has been under a SEBI-appointed Administrator (Mr T.K. Das) for the past several months.)

A separate notice issued today by the exchange refers to the SEBI's scheme on interest liability regularisation. The CSE has said that the contents of a letter sent by the regulator are now available for scrutiny.

Mr Das had stated at the EGM that he was not obliged to share all correspondence from the regulator with members of exchange.

That statement led to strong protests from the broking fraternity. Members urged the authorities to ensure that important correspondence be shared in the interests of all.

The EGM saw the adoption of a resolution regarding the demutualisation of CSE, a matter that is likely to be taken up along with other issues again at the next meeting.
