Hyderabad , July 30

A MAJOR fire broke out at the local warehouse of Godrej & Boyce early this morning, resulting in a property loss of about Rs 7 to 8 crore. Entire records of the unit were also gutted.

However, there was no report of any injuryas the incident occurred at night. About 90 people work at the facility.

Mr M.V. Srinivas, Branch Manager, told Business Line that the fire broke out at 2.30 a.m. at Godrej's unit at Kukatpally.

Six fire tenders were pressed into service immediately. It took nearly 14 hours to put out the fire completely.

He said the entire facility that housed the office and godown was gutted in the incident.

"Only those things that were parked outside are left," Mr Srinivas said.

He, however, said that the extent of the damage was yet to be ascertained. The country head of the company is likely to visit the site in a day or two.

A Fire Department official said, "It was a difficult task as the roof of the facility caved in due to the fire. This restricted the movement of fire-fighters."
