I-Day celebrations in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: About 5000 artistes, children and poets will participate in the `Saluting Mother India' programme, on Independence Day.

The programme comprises patriotic songs and dances.

Mr Surjeet Singh Barnala, the Governor, will inaugurate the programme on August 15.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr S.P. Singh, Principal Secretary (Tourism), said eminent artistes from the State will take part in the specially designed programme.

Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the Chief Minister, Dr J. Geeta Reddy, Minister for Tourism and Sugar, and top officials will also participate in the programme.

Marking the occasion, the Department of Culture is organising an art camp at Ravindra Bharati. Art students from Hyderabad Central University will showcase their work on the theme of national integration.
