Mumbai , Aug. 27

MENLO Worldwide, a global transportation, logistics and supply chain solutions company, is expanding its supply chain services presence in the country.

The company also plans to increase by 50 per cent its geographical coverage of the Indian subcontinent.

It plans to add four new sales and operations offices to the offices it currently operates in Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Kochi, Ahemdabad, Kolkatta, Hyderabad, New Delhi, and Coimbatore, an official release said.

Menlo Worldwide is based in Redwood City, California, and is a $2.9-billion business segment of CNF Inc.

Menlo Worldwide offers a range of international multi-modal transportation services in India, including air and ocean freight, as well as supply chain, warehouse and logistics service through Menlo Worldwide Forwarding India Pvt Ltd (MWFI), a licensed multi-modal transport operator and Custom House Clearing Agent.

"With the imminent lowering of tariffs in the textiles industry, India is poised to become the dominant leader of the apparel and garment sector. This development, along with India's growing trade in high tech, automotive and pharmaceuticals, has given us confidence to invest in new facilities, expand to new locations, and launch new supply chain services," said Mr Stuart Richardson, Managing Director, the UK, Ireland, Africa and West Asia for Menlo Worldwide.

Menlo Worldwide was formed in December 2001 and is the parent corporation of Menlo Worldwide Forwarding (formerly Emery Forwarding), Menlo Worldwide Logistics, Vector SCM, Menlo Worldwide Technologies, Menlo Worldwide Expedite! And Menlo Worldwide Trade Services, the statement added.

Prior to the establishment of MWFI, Menlo Worldwide operated in India as Emery Worldwide India Pvt Ltd. The Emery brand name, which was associated with air freight services, has now been replaced by the Menlo Worldwide brand, the statement said.
