Hyderabad , Sept. 17 BHARAT Sanchar Nigam Ltd, in association with VoiceGate Technologies India and all airlines operating at Hyderabad airport, on Thursday announced the launch of `Single Number Flight Information Service.' This is considered to be the first of its kind service on BSNL fixed-line network in India. The service allows citizens to access information on schedules of all airlines both domestic and international operating at Hyderabad airport on a single telephone number, 1255226 on 60-seconds pulse rate. People calling from outside twin cities within the State would have to prefix 9540 or 040 to 1255226 to access the service. The Principal General Manager of BSNL, Hyderabad District Telecom, Mr C. Govardhan, announcing the launch of this service in a statement said, "The long-felt need of the people of twin cities and of AP, in general, for information about the arrival/departure details of different flights at Hyderabad airport, will now be met dynamically round the clock." The Managing Director of VoiceGate, Mr Syed Mohammed, said, "Developing this complex application would not have been possible without the cooperation from the airlines and BSNL officials." On dialing 1255226, the caller is given information in three languages on the schedules of all inbound and outbound flights at Hyderabad airport, for all domestic and international airlines that operate as on date. Callers have to enter flight number to get information instantly. When a caller does not know the flight number, the system waits for three seconds and asks the caller to select arrivals or departures. Once selected, the system would play arrival/departure information for the next 18 hours and previous six hours of the time of call. It is the responsibility of all member-airlines to update the information on real-time basis. In case any information is not updated, the scheduled time of arrival/ departure would be announced to the callers.
