Kamal Nath to attend bilateral meetings during Europe tour

THE Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Kamal Nath, is undertaking a week-long trip to Europe as part of attending bilateral meetings in Paris, London and the India-European Union meeting in the Hague from October 7-14.

Sources in the Government said that during his first leg of the European tour, Mr Kamal Nath would be in Paris.

On October 7, he would address an international conference on `Liberalisation and the future of agricultural policy' being organised by the French Institute of International Relations.

The next day, Mr Kamal Nath will have bilateral meetings with the EU Trade Commissioner, Mr Pascal Lamy, and his French counterpart, Mr Francoise Loos. Bilateral trade between India and France stood at $2,344.35 million during 2003-04, showing a growth of 8 per cent over 2002-03. India's five major export items to France include readymade garments, cotton including accessories, cotton yarn/fabric/ made-ups, petroleum products, RMG manmade fibres and transport equipment.
