New Delhi , Oct. 11 IBM India on Monday announced the launch of new ThinkCentre S50 ultra small, touted as the world's smallest full functional desktop PC and targeted at the value space. "Considering the fact that the office space is shrinking in nearly every industry, the new product is positioned at the value space at segments including healthcare, business process outsourcing and retail. We also see demand for this product from small and medium businesses (SMBs)," Mr Neeraj Sharma, Vice-President, Personal Computing Division of IBM India, said here. The price of the desktop ranges between Rs 38,000 and Rs 48,000 depending on the configuration. Mr Sharma said that as per IDC figures, IBM had clocked 48,000 units in the second quarter (April-June) compared to 30,000 units in the same period previous year in India. Although IBM had been growing faster than the market in the past, the company could not comment on sales projections. At 5.9 kg and a footprint smaller than many notebook PCs, the new desktop includes IBM's patented think Vantage Technologies, which helps in reducing system operating costs, the company said. The ThinkCentre S50 ultra small features an internal power supply, one PCI slot, one Slim-line optical drive slot, one 3.5-inch internal hard drive and Intel Pro-1000 Enternet.
