Mumbai , Oct. 12 HBO on Tuesday said it has emerged as the leading English movie channel in the country. According to an official statement citing TAM India, HBO featured the three highest rated movies across English movie channels in the 12-month period, namely Spider-Man, The Mummy Returns and The Mummy. In addition, it featured seven of the top 10 rated movies in the one-year period, including all-time greats such as Enter the Dragon, Rumble in the Bronx, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and The Matrix.. Further, during weekend primetime, HBO has the highest channel share of 1.08 per cent, the highest reach of 62.37 per cent and the highest time spent: an average of 48 minutes. It also topped among all English entertainment channels in terms of absolute primetime channel share, with a score of 0.85 per cent. Giving details of the trend, Ms Quek Toi Mien, Senior Vice-President (Programming & Promotion), HBO Asia, said at a press briefing that the film Stuart Little 2 telecast on October 2 was the third-highest rated programme on all channels that day. "The movie channel is a very title-driven business," added Mr Jonathan Spink, CEO, HBO Asia. The officials said that in general, the time between a Hollywood film's theatrical release in the US and its telecast on HBO in India had shrunk. "On the average, it is now happening 15 months after the first theatrical release in the US," Ms Mien said. However, there have been select cases of still quicker time to telecast.
