Foreign holding up 3.19 pc in Satyam

THE total foreign shareholding was up by 3.19 per cent in Satyam Computer during the quarter ended September 30, at 65.98 per cent (209,536,157 shares) as against 62.79 per cent (198,915,296 shares) during the previous quarter ended June 30.

Interestingly, the overall investment by foreign institutional investors (FII) has also gone up by 3.23 per cent from 50.81 per cent in Q1 to 54.04 per cent in Q2. The Satyam shareholding also witnessed domestic institutional investors paring their exposure marginally. In the case of mutual funds and UTI, the overall holding during Q2 was 7.27 per cent as against 9.11 per cent in Q1. Likewise, Life Insurance Corporation has cut its exposure from 4.18 per cent in Q1 to 3.23 per cent in Q2 and banks and financial institutions and other insurance companies together have trimmed exposure to about 3.42 per cent in Q2 as against 4.43 per cent in Q1.

Two Templeton Global Funds have increased their holding and together have nearly 8 per cent equity in Satyam . Yet another Templeton Investment Counsel has a little over 1 per cent equity.
