Foreign Trade Swedish team keen to woo IT, telecom firms Our Bureau

Bangalore , Oct. 27 AN enormous potential for co-operation exists for Indian and Swedish ICT industry in IT and telecommunications," said Mr Lars-Olof Lindgren, Director-General for Trade Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sweden, who is heading a business mission to India comprising companies and government trade bodies. The trade mission comprises companies such as Electrolux, Ericsson, Hunter International, Invest in Sweden Agency, Roxtec International Ab, A3TL, Swedfund International, Svensk Handel, Swedmec, Teleca, Telelogic, Volvo and the Swedish Trade Council. "Sweden is ranked as the world's No 1 information economy and sophisticated ICT solutions are deeply integrated into Sweden's traditional industrial, public and service sectors," said Mr Ciro Vasquez, Senior Business Development Manager, Invest in Sweden Agency. Sweden offers competitive advantages in wireless systems and technology, mobile applications and services, vehicle telematics and safety systems, home communication and broadband applications, applied ICT and wireless, microelectronics, photonics and system-on-chip design, he said. He suggested that Sweden be used to perform cost-competitive research as a pilot market for early commercialisation, as a strategic market for Northern Europe and urged Indian firms to use its established venture capital industry.
