Information Technology Info-Tech - Outlook `IBM has big plans for India' Our Bureau

New Delhi , Oct. 28 IBM's Chief Executive and Chairman of the board, Mr Samuel J. Palmisano, on Thursday met the Minister for IT and Communications, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, and discussed the company's expansion plans for India. "They (IBM) have a lot of plans. Ours was a casual meeting. Mr Palmisano had met the Prime Minister, Mr Manmohan Singh, yesterday. He was talking about plans of IBM in India... They are ambitious plans," Mr Maran said on the sidelines of an event here. IBM India spokesperson declined to comment on the meeting. During his visit to India, Mr Palmisano is expected to interact with IBM clients, customers and Government officials. India is an important market for IBM and the company has been making significant investments from time to time. Some of the facilities it has established in India include IBM Solution Partnership Centre in Bangalore, Linux Solution Centre in Bangalore, IBM Linux Competency Centre in Bangalore, India Software Labs at Bangalore and Pune, India Research Laboratory in Delhi, Global e-business Software Centre in Gurgaon and Manufacturing Facility in Pondicherry. IBM's India Research Laboratory in Delhi is among eight such facilities worldwide.
