More transparency

This is with reference to `Infrastructure projects make tardy progress' (Business Line, November 22). While the factors the author cites as bedevilling infrastructure projects are scrutinised by media and urban experts, little attention is paid to them.

The article refers to the costs of 605 projects going up from Rs 1.05 lakh crore to Rs 2.68 lakh crore. One shudders to think what the cost figures would be on completion and implementation of these projects. What we need, therefore is, greater transparency in decision making, a fuller public debate on projects and accountability of the decision makers.
