Rubber `No curbs on rubber exports' Our Correspondent
KOTTAYAM: The Rubber Board has denied that the Government has imposed restrictions on exports of rubber. Stating that reports in this regard were "misleading and baseless", the Rubber Board said in a press release that the Government had not made any control for the export of rubber sheet, block rubber, and centrifuged latex. The Government had only reduced the subsidy given for export by one half. But this year 34,000 tonne of natural rubber (NR) would be exported with the financial assistance, while the target fixed for export this year is estimated to be 50,000 tonnes of NR. But no control has been imposed for export even above 50,000 tonnes. As the price ruling in the international market is above the domestic rubber prices, there is immense potential now for further exportUnder the circumstances, the rubber export of the rubber from India continues unabated, the press release pointed out.
