Chartered accountants' meet in Coimbatore

THE one-day national continuing professional education (CPE) conference for the chartered accountants being organised here on Friday will focus on updates on the accounting trends related to business process outsourcing, service tax, value-added tax and the recent accounting standards.

The CPE conference `Emerging empowerment' organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in association with the Coimbatore branch of the southern India regional council of ICAI will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Mr E.V.K.S. Elangovan.

The ICAI President, Mr Sunil Goyal, and the institute's CPE Committee Chairman, Mr G. Ramaswamy, are among the key personalities to take part in the Coimbatore conference to be held at the SITRA auditorium here.

The accountancy professionals who are to obtain a minimum 15 hours of mandatory CPE credit in a calendar year would get a CPE credit of 6 hours for attending the Coimbatore conference.

The sessions on BPO opportunities, service tax and VAT would be chaired by chartered accountancy professionals, Mr Ravi S. Ramakrishnan, Mr Ashok Batra, both from Delhi and Mr S. Venkataramani from Bangalore.
