THE Office of the Commissioner of Customs in Mangalore has collected Customs duty of Rs 862 crore up to December 2004, which is 2.38 per cent higher than the revenue collected for the same period the previous financial year.

A press release by Mr R.C. Negi, Additional Commissioner, said here on Tuesday that the budgeted estimates of the Mangalore Customs Commissionerate for the current financial year is Rs 1,219 crore.

The Commissionerate collected Rs 1,107.6 crore duty during 2003-04 against the budgeted estimates of Rs 1,050 crore.

The release said that the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Bangalore Zone, Mr R. Sundar Raman, monitored the progress in revenue collection here recently.
