KAU told to tap IT better

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The general council of the Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has suggested that information technology should be effectively tapped for disseminating information on the agricultural sector in the State.

Information on modern farming techniques and marketing strategies should be made available to farmers as part of the proposed `cyber extension' programme. The extension activities of the KAU should be strengthened and streamlined in such a manner as to benefit the farming community. This should ideally be achieved with the cooperation of various departments and agencies concerned.

Saturday's special meeting of the council was convened to discuss various extension activities of the university. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof K.V. Peter, presided.
