Ranbaxy gets USFDA nod

NEW DELHI: Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd has received tentative approval from the US Food and Drug Administration to manufacture and market donepezil hydrochloride tablets used for the treatment of mild to moderate dementia of the Alzheimer's type.

The total market sales for donepezil hydrochloride tablets are estimated tobe at $935.3 million (Rs 4,000 crore). "This product represents a future opportunity and Ranbaxy will launch the tablets following final approval from the FDA," said Mr Jim Meehan, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc.
