New models rev up sales of Bajaj Auto sales by 25 pc

Mumbai , March 1

BAJAJ Auto Ltd reported a 24.8 per cent growth in its vehicle sales in February 2005 with two-wheeler sales registering a 31 per cent increase while three-wheeler offtake showing a dip of 7.8 per cent.

Motorcycle sales increased to 1,29,409 units in February 2005, higher by 53.7 per cent from the year-ago period. Two-wheeler sales stood at 1,39,573 units in February 2005 (1,06,558 units).

Bajaj Auto sold 18,556 units of three wheelers in February 2005.

The company said its two-wheeler sales moved up on the back of new products launched in the market.

For the April 2004-Februry 2005 period, Bajaj Auto reported a 24.8 per cent increase in its two-wheeler sales at 14,59,884 vehicles.

The company expects its motorcycle sales to be 1.5 million units, a growth of over 40 per cent for the full fiscal.

Total exports grew by 21 per cent to 1,72,288 units (1,42,383 units).
