NMDC raises target for iron ore, diamond

Hyderabad , March 30

THE National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Union Ministry of Steel, laying down targets for the year 2005-06.

Accordingly, the target for finished iron ore has been fixed at 210 lakh tonnes, up by 13.10 lakh tonnes from last year. Similarly, sale of iron ore would be 231 lakh tonnes, an increase of over 11 lakh tonnes.

For diamonds, the new figure would be 78,000 carats, higher by 2,100 carats.

The MoU was signed by the Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC, Mr B. Ramesh Kumar, and the Secretary, Steel Ministry, Dr Mano Ranjan, in New Delhi, said a press release here.
