ONGC mite for AP rural growth

ONGC is spending about Rs 60 lakh for socio-economic development initiatives in the Amalapuram-Rajahmundry area every year.
Further, out of Rs 1 crore spent annually by the Ravva Project operated by Cairn Energy, ONGC has a share of Rs 40 lakh since it has 40 per cent stake in that venture.
As part of this activity, Mr C. Lal, Executive Director and Asset Manager, ONGC Rajahmundry, on Tuesday handed over 58 cheques for a total amount of Rs 23.80 lakh at the Revenue Divisional Office (RDO), Amalapuram as contribution to the corporation's socio-economic development programme.
The recipients and beneficiaries belonged to East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna districts. Mr S. Venkata Rao, RDO, Amalapuram was also present, according to an ONGC release from Rajahmundry.
The beneficiaries of the funds disbursed included developmental programmes sanctioned in different remote villages, rural schools, panchayats, NGOs, disabled and mentally retarded children's centre, leprosy units, etc.
ONGC had contributed Rs 16 crore for the inter-State Yanam-Edurlanka bridge across the Godavari and Rs 6 crore for the construction of a road bridge across the Vasistha.
