New Delhi , June 3

BHARAT Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has recorded an all-time high order booking worth Rs 1,450 crore from the services sector during fiscal 2004-05, an improvement of about 53 per cent over the previous year.

With services emerging as the economy's new growth engine, BHEL has adopted a focussed approach to tap opportunities in the area of after-market services, according to a company release.

The company's strategy of refocusing its energies on the services sector will help in enhancing availability of power in the country, besides improving the company's bottom line. It assumes significance as pressure on existing installations is mounting to keep pace with demand.
