Education NAC launching two new courses Our Bureau
Hyderabad , June 21 THE National Academy of Construction (NAC), mandated to provide support to the construction industry, will launch two courses in highway technology and facility management. The one-year post-graduate course in facility management is being launched in collaboration with the International Facility Management Institute, Bangalore. The certificate would be given by the International Facility Management Association, US. Stating this, Mr C.T. Chari, the Director-General, NAC told Business Line that the course intends to churn out a new breed of managers who would know everything about the environment, the interiors, needs etc in the new facilities that are being created. In India, it will the first of its kind course. It would be started from July 11. The IFMA, Hyderabad, is also supporting with faculty resources. Placement is also being tied up. US, Germany, Singapore and UK offer such courses at present, he said. The courses would be open to any graduate. They would lay emphasis on intellectual property rights issues, especially concerning software, biotech parks and healthcare infrastructure, Mr Chari said. The highway technology course is a customised programme of six-month duration. Consultants, infrastructure companies are being aimed at present. It would be launched in the third week of July. With the construction industry growing in several parts of the country and the Centre allowing foreign direct investment (FDI) into the sector, the demand for trained professionals to handle these emerging challenges were urgently required.
