Our Bureau

Hyderabad , July 1

THE facilities at the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati, would be upgraded with an investment of Rs 120 crore.

The amount will be shared equally by the State Government and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).

Agreeing to the proposal, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who chaired the 20th executive board meeting of SVIMS on Thursday advised the board Chairman, Mr T. Subbarami Reddy, to take up the necessary construction activities.

The Chief Minister asked officials to identify 150 acres of land near Renigunta for expansion of SVIMS. The executive board of SVIMS proposed a medical college, increase in seats in certain medical, paramedical and nursing courses, affiliation of frontier lifeline services and other institutions with it and permission to conduct a mega medical camp, according to an official release.
