Mumbai , July 8

DOMESTIC drug company Lupin Ltd's plans to enter the regulated markets got a shot in the arm with the company's plant in Verna, Goa, being inspected by the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).

The plant is for the production of non-cephalosporin drugs consumed orally and was commissioned in March 2004.

The Managing Director of Lupin, Dr Kamal K. Sharma, said in a statement: "This event re-affirms Lupin's focus in participating in the US and other advanced markets. The approval will enable Lupin to significantly enhance its product offering in the US, the EU and other advanced markets."

The Goa plant is Lupin's 11th facility to receive USFDA approval.

Earlier, the company's non-cephalosporin bulk-drug plant at Tarapur, Maharashtra also received USFDA approval, the company said.
