Chennai, July 11

ADVERTISING Club Madras, in association with the Rural Marketing Agencies Association of India (RMAAI), an industry body set up recently, will conduct a seminar on rural marketing and communication in Chennai on July 29.

Mr Pradeep Kashyap of MART, Delhi, will deliver the keynote address on the challenges and opportunities in rural marketing.

The Hindu's Joint Managing Director, Mr N. Murali, will be the chief guest.

The seminar will also include a panel discussion, paper presentation as well as a case study on Dalda.

RMAAI, which will conduct its executive committee meeting before the seminar, was formed in March, replacing a largely informal group of rural marketing and communication agencies, which was called The Rural Network.

The four agencies in that network - Anugrah Madison, MART, Sampark and Rural Relations - are now part of RMAAI, which also has members such as Ogilvy Activation, Linterland and Indian Agribusiness Systems, among others.

The Founder President of RMAAI, Mr R. V. Rajan, said, "Our idea was that though everybody was talking about rural marketing, the understanding was low. We want to create more awareness and bring out studies to show the potential of the rural market." Next on RMAAI's agenda is a two-day seminar in Delhi in end-November.
