ONGC ties up with Italy's ENI for deep-water exploration

New Delhi , Sept. 6

OIL and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on Tuesday entered into an agreement with Italy's ENI for deep-water exploration in India and abroad. A memorandum of understanding was signed by ONGC's Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Subir Raha, and the ENI Chief Operating Officer, Mr Stesano Cao, here.

The MoU envisages exchange of information on deep-water exploration opportunities in India and abroad and is expected to lead to exchange of equity interests in select licences, a statement issued here said. It, however, did not give details of the agreement.

ONGC and ENI had in the recently concluded round five of New Exploration Licensing Policy secured two exploration blocks — one in Rajasthan and other in Andaman deep sea.
