Exports & Imports IT, electronics exports up 30 pc Our Bureau
New Delhi , Sept. 25 THE share of IT and electronics in India's overall export basket has come down marginally to 14.52 per cent during 2004-05 against 16.10 per cent in the previous year, according to Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC). In absolute terms, during 2004-05, India's total exports, including services, stood at Rs 587,530 crore. Of this, the share of electronics and computer software and services was Rs 85,300 crore. "The IT and electronics exports during 2004-05 has gone up by almost 30 per cent as compared to the previous year. But IT exports, as a share of total exports, have come down from 16.10 per cent in 2003-04 to 14.52 per cent in 2004-05. "This marginal deceleration was due to whopping growth of total exports by 43 per cent driven mainly by miscellaneous services items, including private transfers and income from financial assets," ESC stated. The share of software exports (out of the total services exports) from the country during 2004-05 worked out to 33.7 per cent.
